*Reptilica Polaris Afenginn is, among other things, a roaring Balkan party, a melody of Nordic melancholic moods and a mixture of super dynamic live shows......* With high tempo, great joy and border seeking musical ideas Afenginn has built up a reputation of virtuosity and of excellent live shows the past years ? Afenginn means intoxication and strength! Since the beginning in 2002 their brand has been originality in a style that grows out of world, punk and Nordic folk music and travels from the smallest pianissimo to wild and roaring parts. Afenginns homebrewed and unique style has been categorized as bastard-ethno, with a sigh of Nordic melancholy and a twist of cheerful madness. Afenginn are: Rasmus Krøyer - clarinets Niels Skovmand - violin Kim Nyberg - mandolin, mandocello Aske Jacoby - bass Rune Kofoed ? drums & percussion 18,56 EUR

One of the most important bands from the Faeroe islands is Spælimenninir which exist for more than 25 years. From the start they have been playing traditional music from the North and their north includes whole Scandinavia, Scotland, Ireland, Canada and the US. But also they bring original songs in a traditional atmosphere. The seventeen tunes on this new cd\'s are acoustic traditional folk in new arrangements. The fact that there are also some jazz musicians in the band makes that some songs have a slight different approach than you would normally expect from a traditional Scandinavian band. Besides the piano the band has the fiddle, recorder, mandolin, guitar, harmonium and bass as instruments. Actually Malargrot is exactly what the band has been doing for the last 25 years. Keeping the Nordic tradition alive, lets hope they will do this for many years to come. (FOLKWORLD) 16,93 EUR

Dam (g), Mikael Blak (b), Brandur Jacobsen (dr, perc), Tróndur Bogason (synth), Hans Jacob á Brúnni (voc), Fótatraðk (voc) \'...you are drawn into the remarkableness and strong roots of this debut album by an extraordinarily gifted 17-year-old Faroese.... She is not afraid to screech and squeak, as she does in \'Føroyar mín móðir\', before reverting to a calm, woman-girl voicing of Poul F. Joensen´s lyrics to her tune over Brandur Jacobsen\'s pulsing drum, Búi E. Dam\'s chiming vibrato\'d electric guitar and Mikael Blak\'s darkly slithering double bass, moving to stridency and wild vocalising.\' Andrew Cronshaw, Nov. 2001. fROOTS.
